Tuesday, August 5, 2008 – I Know I Can

Today is the first day that I actually feel like I am getting back to myself.  So, like the little train that thought it could, I thought of this train that is a sign post on the Cinque Terre trail in Italy.  The arrow shows the direction of the train station (there are five in all, one at each town on the trail, hence Cinque, Italian for the number five);  the red and white bar shows the continuation of the train, and the wine bottle shows that there are beverages, etc.  So, I am keeping along the get well trail just fine.  Today I went to the orthodontist for a follow-up, and he was very pleased with the results so far.  In fact, the ladies in the office were remarking on how strong I looked and my color was really good for the operation having been so recent.  Well, it seems like it was a century ago but then this is the third week.  Which makes me see that I have no cause for complaint.

Tomorrow it’s a return visit to the surgeon, and I will find up what’s up with the heartburn and how much longer the suspension wires need to be installed.

Still no feeling in various parts of my face and my lips, although I feel a lot of pressure in the top front.  And I still need the pain meds by dinnertime and overnight.  Still ice the face but not as much, and still use the heating pad to relieve the tension in my neck (mostly on my right side).

Today I started spinning and I felt like I had totally forgotten how.  It’s a bit thick and thin.  Some of it is that I am not totally crazy about this dyed in the wool silk and camel blend I picked up at the May conference.  Short and long fibers are not fun to spin together and I find that I have to do a lot of pre-drafting.  Also silk is hard for me to spin, when it is still gummy you just want to scream.  At least it’s only four ounces and it should be over soon enough.

I am on the 2nd installment of the Lord of the Rings.  Believe it or not, I actually prefer the book. But the music is so inspiring and I love the clothes so it is a great movie to knit or spin to. I have to adapt my timing on those long movies because I still nap in the morning and in the afternoon.  Keeps up my strength.  That said, it’s time to loosen up the neck and get something to drink.  Ciao for now!
